Rise and Shine Tutoring, LLC

We have used a tutor from Rise and Shine for several years and couldn’t be more satisfied with both the tutor and the service.  Not only is our grandson’s tutor familiar with the curriculum of the local schools, but his is able to switch from teaching high school Math, to Science or Spanish if the need arises.  Our grandson has benefited from the experience by planning what he needs to learn at each session.  There have never been awkward moments, but mutual respect.  We find Lori to be very fair and accommodating, as well as an expert at matching students with tutors.

THANK YOU for everything you’ve done to help our son out.  He got his PSAT scores and did fantastically on the Reading/Writing score and even more importantly he has gained a ton of confidence in his writing ability which was seriously lacking before our Rise and Shine Tutoring experience.  We can’t thank you enough! My family has been using the tutoring services of Rise & Shine over the past few years. My son was struggling in math and reading, and with the dedication, patience and attention of his tutor, he has improved his math and reading skills, and is doing much better. He even actually asked for his tutor to resume online tutoring this semester, and it has been great. My child is on their second year with Rise and Shine Tutoring. Lori has been absolutely wonderful finding the best match to meet my child's learning style and needs. Lori at Rise and Shine Tutoring is awesome to work with! She matched the best tutors with all three of my children over the last 5 years and they benefited substantially from this one on one tutoring! This is evident by both of my son’s keeping a 3.9 GPA and my daughter being kept accountable and her grade going up as well. Rise and Shine came to our rescue and has paid great dividends by using their teams' skills to invest in our children, we cannot thank Lori and her team enough for their expertise and caring for each of our children as if they were their own children, this is indeed a CLASS organization with a terrific owner/leader.

Rise and Shine Tutoring was recommended to me by my daughter's high school counselor. When I contacted Lori she called me back right away, said she had someone in mind for my daughter and tutoring was scheduled for the following week. My daughter worked with Olivia for math and science and when it was time for SAT tutoring I reached out to Lori again because of how much Olivia had helped my daughter. My original plan for SAT prep was to do a group class at a large tutoring agency. But I'm so glad that I went with one on one tutoring with Rise and Shine instead. My daughter worked with Hana over six months (because the SAT kept getting cancelled) and her practice SAT scores continued to increase and my daughter really enjoyed working with her. Hana made SAT prep fun for my daughter and tailored the sessions to my daughter's individual needs. She also communicated with me often about how things were going. My daughter ultimately decided not to take the SAT on advice of her College Consultant, but she has commented how her work with Hana has helped her with math overall as well as increased her reading comprehension skills. 

My daughter has used Rise and Shine Tutoring during her high school years and first year of college in the subject areas of algebra, geometry, statistics, chemistry, and some ACT preparation.  We have always been provided with excellent tutors who were knowledgeable, professional, and very easy to work with.  The tutors always took the time to understand the material and explain it in a simple, step-by-step manner.  The tutors were reliable and punctual with excellent communication and organizational skills.  They were on time for sessions and let us know in advance if a session needed to be rescheduled.  Often times the tutors would offer extra sessions or stay beyond their scheduled time to assure my daughter was prepared for an upcoming exam.  I would highly recommend Rise and Shine Tutoring if you desire highly skilled tutors who are willing to give 100% of themselves to assist in mastering the subject area to allow your child to be confident and successful in class. 

​It is a pleasure working with "Rise and Shine."  As a previous School Administrator and teacher, it is reassuring to know the caliber of tutors that are being offered to the students!  Allowing us to go directly into the schools is such a plus for the students, helping to make their tutor sessions less stressful and more time efficient.

Working for Rise and Shine has been such a great experience for me.  The houses are flexible and I feel very safe in the homes of my students.  Working in the home is also a benefit since the students feel more comfortable and relaxed and therefore are more receptive to the tutoring.  I really appreciate the screening process to match students to tutors.  As a tutor, it's really important for me to be able to connect with my students so that we can relate and build a connection, which helps facilitate each session.  Rise and Shine is a great company and I'm so glad I've had the opportunity to work with them.

When my son needed some help with his Algebra class, I could only think of one place to seek help.  It was Rise and Shine Tutoring.  I knew that the owner had integrity and an excellent work ethic.  I was more than happy with the results.  After only two sessions, my son scored a B+ on his Algebra test.  When we started my son had a D in the class.  I would recommend Rise and Shine Tutoring again and again.  the tutors they choose are of high quality and have great expertise in the area you are seeking! Rise and Shine is working beyond expectations as a compliment to my daughter's tutoring needs.  Both tutors that have worked with K have been professional, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their work.  They have adapted to my daughter's learning style and have been patient and supportive.  Flexibility has also been an added bonus in our situation.  What a needed and valuable program!

J's tutor was. an MSU college student, Corey.  Corey's efforts improved J's knowledge and understanding of AP Calculus.  Corey was conscientious, thorough, and flexible (accommodating appointment changes due to inclement weather, sport schedule changes, and other school commitments.)  They met weekly at the East Lansing Library and it was very beneficial to J, after spending the fall semester struggling despite her hard work and separate meetings with the AP Calculus teacher.  In fact, in one of the first tutoring sessions Corey provided J with a review of the overall concepts, theories and practices of Calculus.  J found that information was a helpful tool in understanding the framework of the class.  I regret not learning about and securing the services of Rise and Shine Tutoring earlier in the school year.

I have been a tutor with Rise and Shine for over a year now and I am in awe at how organized and communicable this organization is.  Lori is easy to reach and fast at responding.  She holds the interest of both the tutor and tutored in her heart and mind.  Lori is excellent at matching students with tutors because she takes the time to look at what the student needs and her tutors' credentials to see if it will be a good fit.  As someone who is elementary certified, I thoroughly enjoy working one on one with students to help them achieve both long-term and short-term goals.
